International association of professional birth photographers (IAPBP) 2020 image competition-submissions are open!
Birth photography competition season has started and your favorite Dallas Birth Photographer has been racking her brains, going back and forth and trying to decide which photos to enter in each contest. The process of going through thousands of images that you are emotionally connected to, but at the same time trying to distance yourself from in order to gain an objective perspective all the while picking every image apart, is so bitter sweet and plain HARD! So I thought I’d ask for your help!
The first competition I am selecting images for is the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers 2020 IAPBP Image Competition. It’s the 10th anniversary of the competition and my 7th consecutive year to participate. Birth photographers from all around the world submit images into 5 categories:
Labor
Delivery
Postpartum
Birth details
Fresh 48
Each birth photographer could submit up to 5 images, and for the first time participants are not restricted to 1 image per category, which used to be the case in the past.
So, as you may imagine, narrowing the thousands of amazing moments, I witnessed and captured, in 2019 down to only 5 images is not an easy task. It was incredibly hard to select these 18 photos as my possible entries. Please, help a girl out and let me know which 5 of these images are your favorites; which are the most intriguing, unique, relatable; which are the ones that you feel the most emotionally connected to?
